SEMA did it again. This years show was absolutely off the hook. This is truly the largest all encompassing car
show in the civilized world. The Las Vegas Convention center's
3 million square feet of space was packed to the gills with every type of performance vehicle and after market part
known to man.
The show is an industry event by invitation only. The list of vendors and exhibits is too long to list.
The vehicles that represent
exhibitors company's are way beyond what you will see at any other venue.
The weather in Vegas is perfect for this type of show. Warm, dry and sunny November days make this an amazing perfect place for a car show.
The outdoor show area was a virtual hot rod carnival. There was a rumor going around that next years show will not be held in Vegas.
We hope that the rumor was false as Vegas is the only place to really appreciate this event. To the chagrin of some of
our female readers we still maintain that the after market industry is still a mans world.
Like last years show there is no political correctness here
just a lot of fun...it's VEGAS baby!!!
This years show saw the reemergence of the Corvette as a force to be reckoned with in the automotive marketplace.
If you recall the Corvette came close to being taken out of production earlier this year. GM had an eleventh hour
change of heart and has decided to place America's only sports car back at the head of the fleet.
The car that is being pushed as GM's new flagship is the new Corvette Grand Sport. The Grand Sport is more than just
a sheep in wolf's clothing. The base Corvette has been fitted with technology and hardware that was reserved
only for its big brother the ZO6. GM is predicting that the GS will account for more than fifty percent of all
future Vette sales. This according to our sources is a very conservative estimate, the adjusted sales figures may approach
over eighty percent.
The Camaro was GM's top dog at last years show.
The Camaro's presence was there but without the brouhaha that it had in 2008.
